The forerunner of Dayton Nurseries,
Nortondale Nursery was started in 1956 by Del Dayton by planting Norway
Spruce Christmas trees on his property in Norton and harvesting and
selling Scotch Pine Christmas trees at the site which is now Wolf Creek
Winery.
Del and his brother-in-law Gene
expanded the cut Christmas tree business to include a nursery and
landscape business in the late 1950s. Because of time
constraints due to performing his work from his main employer, Barberton
Laundry, Del did not do much with the business until his son, Tom,
became interested in 1972 in which the planting began again.
In May of 1973, Tom and Del started
selling Azaleas along with other nursery stock combines with selling
produce in summer that they grew except for the sweet corn that came
from Seiberling farms in Norton.
Tom graduated from the
Agricultural-Technical Institute with an associates degree in
Horticulture with studies continuing in greenhouse management, landscape
design and plant propagation through his mentor, John Rovestein, who
earned his degree and knowledge in Boskoop, Holland.
As the business grew, the original
site just south of Norton center was land locked and not conducive for
growth.
In 1990, Tom purchased 75 acres north
of I-76 in Norton of which he still retains about 33 acres on which site
the nursery and garden center today. Toms vision of a grower type
garden center is still going with our ever expanding palette plants to
meet customers needs and desires.
The nursery was opened that year
on the 40-acre site at 3459 Cleveland-Massillon Rd. in Norton, Ohio.
That's right, 40 acres.
Our selection and beauty are
unmatched with flawless landscaping everywhere you turn. We are a
full service garden center specializing in Rhododendrons and Azaleas and
offering a huge variety of trees, shrubs and roses. There are also
over 800 varieties of perennials offered as well as our new 17,000 ft
greenhouses that are lush with flowers. Along with vast selection,
we offer education and attentive customer service.

Warranty
If Dayton Nursery
plants the tree or shrub We guarantee any tree or shrub installed by us
or a sub-contractor of Dayton Nursery for 100% of the purchase price for
one year. If You plant the tree or shrub... We guarantee any tree or
shrub you plant for 100% of the purchase price for 3 months, then 50%
for the remaining 9 months. This means you have 50% of the
responsibility in planting and maintaining your tree or shrub.
**Typical maintenance for trees or shrubs should be evident;
watering, insect control, pruning, etc. All trees and shrubs are subject
to proper planting conditions. If NOT, guarantee is VOID.
- Trees, Shrubs & Roses are guaranteed 100% for 3 months from the
purchase date and then 50% for the remaining 9 months.
- Perennials are guaranteed 100% for 90 days
- Annuals, hanging baskets, mums, bulbs and
seasonal plants (such as poinsettias and Christmas trees) are NOT
guaranteed.
- All plants shipped have a separate warranty; see below
- Landscapers, lawn services, etc. have a separate warranty
policy.
*A credit voucher for the full valid warranty amount will be given
for any warranty claim. Original sales receipt must be present.
Due to the fact that we cannot
always get out to see your tree or shrub that may have a problem, we ask
that you bring in a sample leaf, small branch, etc. so that we can help
you with a solution.
** Any tree, shrub or perennial
plant shipped out of state will carry a 90 day full guarantee.
Annuals and bedding plants receive no warranty.
Shipping Warranty
All plants (trees, shrubs, perennials, vines, ferns, etc) shipped
carry a 90 day warranty (annuals and tropicals have no warranty)
Return Policy
We will gladly accept returns for products that meet the following
conditions: Merchandise must be returned in its original condition
within 30 days of the original purchase. Products returned beyond this
time period will not be accepted. We reserve the right to refuse worn or
damaged merchandise. Other restrictions may apply.
Dont have your receipt?
In many instances, we can verify purchases made within the past 2 years
on a store account or credit card using our receipt look-up system.
Call Ahead Service
We encourage our customers to use our handy call-ahead service. If
you have a previous order that needs to be picked up, just call us at
330-825-3320 and your order will be ready at the specified time.
Delivery
Delivery is free within our delivery area (up to 25 miles) on orders
of $1,000 or more (not including topsoil).

Our delivery schedule is
Monday-Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Plant material can be placed by
planting hole for no extra charge if distances are no greater than 150
feet and are on flat land. (Delivery charges always apply to landscaper
and lawn service businesses)
Local delivery fees range from
$15 to $100 and are dependent upon zip code.
Plant Availability
Availability of plant material varies constantly . Not all plants
are available at the same time. However, as an added service, we have
added later availability dates to certain trees, shrubs and perennials
for your convenience. We strive to always carry inventory of the most
requested items during the spring and
summer season.
Terms for Landscapers, Lawn Services,
etc.
(Please see the new policy changes for 2004)
Landscapers, lawn services, and the like shall receive a 15% discount
for non-net materials on account or a 20% discount for non-net cash
purchases. Examples of net items are annuals, bedding plants, tropicals,
seasonal plants and items on sale.
We also offer net 30 days with
approved credit with a 2% per month service charge for accounts with
invoices over 30 days. (24% annual rate) For new accounts or cash
purchased, a landscape discount can be given with proper identification
consisting of a vendors license in the name of the company along with
the completion of tax exemption and account privilege forms.
Landscaper/Lawn Service
Warranty Policy: A 50% credit of purchase price for trees and shrubs
will be given for a period of 180 days from date of purchase. No credit
will be issued on accounts in arrears of payment. Annuals, perennials,
water plants and hard goods have no warranty expressed or implied.
Severe neglect or abuse voids warranty.
* Any plants purchased by a landscaper that are to be shipped carry only
a 90 day warranty.
