Description:

English Ivy is tolerant of many types of soils and light.  Keep out of high foot traffic areas because English Ivy does not tolerate any disturbances including raking.   The best way to clean out a bed with English Ivy is with a leaf blower.  Plant one foot on center for best results and quick establishment

 

Common Name: English Ivy, Baltic Ivy
Botanical Name: Hedera helix
Type: Evergreen Ground Cover
Soil Preference: This plant tolerates some drought and some salt and will dry soil but prefers well-drained, loamy, sandy or clay soils with a pH of acidic to slightly alkaline
(6.8 to 7.7)
Light Requirements: Full Shade to Full Sun
Attributes: Good for naturalizing, container plantings, massing, ground cover and erosion control.   This plant is considered mostly allergy free and causes little or no allergy problems in most people.  Deer resistant.
Pests: Scale, Spider Mites, Mealy Bugs, Aphids
Diseases: Leaf Spot occurs under moist conditions
Care: Propagation is from cuttings and can be done any time of the year.

Description:  Excellent as a vine to climb and cling to stone or brick walls.  Also as a ground cover in shaded as well as sunny areas.  Does well in window boxes, and even as a vine indoors.
