Description:

A plant that is native to Eastern North America, especially the coast lines.  This grass's dangling plumes will make it a nice addition to any garden!  If this grass is planted in the shade, the leaves will be a darker shade of green than if planted in full sun.

 

Common Name: Sea Oats Grass, Wild Oats Grass, North American Wild Oats, Northern Sea Oats, Spanglegrass River Oats, Spanglegrass
Botanical Name: Chasmanthium
Type: Ornamental Grass
Soil Preference: Will grow in dry, moist or high salt areas as well as well-drained, loamy, sandy or clay with a neutral pH
Light
Requirements:
Full sun, partial sun, partial shade
Attributes: Likes moist soils, attracts birds, attracts butterflies, serve as hosts for butterfly larvae, naturalizing, will make a nice cut or dried flower
Pests: Grasshoppers
Diseases: None serious

Care:

Division can be done in early spring to control its growth or make new plants!  Fertilize with Plant-tone as recommended.

Description:  The clumping, upright, light green bamboo- like foliage turns a copper color in late summer.  The showy green flowers dangle like earrings.
