Description:

Gaura gives the garden a wonderful informality with it's long, wispy stems of spider-like flowers.  It responds with a profusion of flowers when watered regularly during the summer heat.  

 

Common Name: Bee Blossom
Botanical Name: Gaura
Type: Perennial
Soil Preference: Tolerates drought and will grow in moist soils but prefers well-drained, loamy or sandy soils with a pH of neutral to slightly alkaline (6.8-7.7)
Light Requirements: Full Sun
Attributes: Good for naturalizing or as a cut flower.   Deer resistant.  Attracts butterflies.
Pests: none serious
Diseases: none serious
Good Companion Plants: Goes well with Sedum, Campanula, Echinacea and ornamental grasses
Care: Best to be divided in spring.

Description: This new cultivar is compact with very dark green foliage.  Four-petalled flowers appear in clumps on the tips of red upright stems.
Bloom Color: Light pink, white
Bloom Time: July-October
Foliage Color: Dark green

Description:  The young foliage is very dark crimson, greening a little as the season progresses.  Hot pink flowers are held upright on sturdy red stems.

Gaura lindheimeri 'Siskiyou Pink'
Bee Blossom, White Gaura

Description:  Blooms continuously from early summer through fall with large, very showy rose-pink flowers with white stamens.  Because of their prolific ever-blooming nature, plants of Siskiyou Pink eventually exhaust themselves and may need replacement every 3rd year or so.

Foliage Color: Green

Description:  Flower color is pure white accented by red stems.   The plant is deeply rooted and is fairly drought tolerant.
