Description:

Phlox is an old-fashioned favorite!  Gardens, both old and new, can benefit from their brilliant colors during the summer months.   This is a class of flowers unsurpassed with its new colors, larger sizes and mildew resistance.


Common Name: Garden Phlox, Summer Phlox, Fall Phlox, Perennial Phlox, Tall Phlox
Botanical Name: Phlox paniculata
Type: Perennial
Soil Preference: Moist, well-drained, loamy or sandy soils with a pH of neutral to slightly alkaline (7.0 or above)
Light Requirements: Full sun
Attributes: Attracts birds, fragrant
Pests: Some varieties are bothered by slugs, snails, spider mites and rabbits
Diseases: Powdery mildew, root rot
Good Companion Plants: Coneflower, Daylily, Perennial Salvia, Shasta Daisy
Care: Plants can be lifted and divided in the spring and fall.  Periodic pruning until mid-summer will produce more stems and a later blooming plant.   Spray plants with sulfur every few weeks to prevent powdery mildew.   Fertilize with Holly-tone or a water soluble fertilizer as recommended.

Description:  From master hybridizer Jan Verschoor comes a unique new bicolor selection with bright fuchsia flowers edged in chartreuse.  Large flower panicles are borne atop relatively short, somewhat mildew resistant plants from mid through late summer. The new hybrids from this breeder are ideal for cut flower producers because the flower petals are drop resistant, meaning they hold their petals until the entire cluster is spent.
