Veronica
umbrosa 'Georgia Blue'
Speedwell
zones 4-8
|
|
Description: Originating from the Republic of Georgia
in the former Soviet Union comes this hardy ground cover-type veronica with
a rock hard constitution. Very clean looking glossy foliage emerges in
spring with some purple tints, matures to dark green, and then takes on
bronze tones in the fall. The plants put on a spectacular
display in early to late spring (depending on the zone) of cobalt blue
flowers which completely cover the foliage once the plants are established.
They often rebloom sporadically throughout the summer. This plant
works well as a weed suppressing ground cover, but is also outstanding in
containers or planted along stone walls where it will gently cascade over
the edge. |

Veronica spicata 'Royal Candles'
Speedwell
zones 4-8
|
|
Description: Masses of violet-blue spikes dart up
above the compact, upright, deep green foliage of 'Royal Candles' all summer
long. Butterflies love to drink their sweet nectar. Unlike some other
veronicas, the bottom foliage of this variety does not die out. This trait
coupled with its shorter habit makes it ideal for the front of the border,

best upright form of veronica. |
