Cercidiphyllum

Description:

Katsura is an undemanding shrub or small tree with little or no insect and disease problems and its ability to grow in a variety of soils.  Leaves may sometimes drop in mid-summer because of dry weather.   Do not plant near a sidewalk or lawn because the shallow roots will cause a nuisance.

Soil Preference: Will tolerate some salt and will grow in dry soil but prefers well-drained/loamy, sandy or clay soils with a pH of acidic to slightly alkaline (less than 6.8 - 7.7)
Light Requirements: Full sun, partial sun, partial shade
Attributes: Pest tolerant, makes a nice specimen plant
Pests: None serious but some insects may occassionally chew on foliage
Diseases: None serious
