Description:

A fast grower that is short-lived (5 years) but well worth the spectacular bloom. 

 

Common Name: Scotch Broom, Common Broom, False Heather
Botanical Name: Cytisus
Type: Deciduous shrub
Growth Rate: Fast
Soil Preference: Tolerates drought and will grow in dry soil but prefers well-drained/loamy, sandy or clay soils with a pH of acidic to slightly alkaline
Light Requirements: Full sun
Attributes: Naturalizing
Pests: Caterpillars
Diseases: None serious
Care: Prune after flowering to keep the plant in nice shape.   Fertilize with Holly-tone or Plant-tone as recommended.
