Description:
One of the most widely adaptable and commonly used landscape plants in Ohio.  This family boasts colorful evergreen plants and deciduous shrubs with brilliant red fall color.
 
Common Name: Euonymus, Wintercreeper Euonymus, Burning Bush
Botanical Name: Euonymus
Type: Evergreen or deciduous shrub
Soil Preference: Tolerates drought and dry soil.  Prefers well-drained soil with an acidic to slightly alkaline soil (less than 6.8 to 7.7)
Light Requirements: Full sun. Evergreen types can tolerate partial shade as well.
Attributes: Attractive fall colors
Pests: Scale, spider mites
Diseases: n/a
Care: Fertilize with Holly-tone as recommended.  Prune long growing stems from evergreen types to keep compact shape.  Deciduous types can be pruned anytime spring to summer.

Description:  Brilliant fiery red leaves in fall are second to none among any other landscape plant used in the U.S. Orange/red fruits.  Makes an excellent hedge or screen without pruning.  Deciduous.
Bloom Color: Green & yellow (inconspicuous)

Foliage Color: Green; red fall color
Height: 4-6'

Description:  Similar to 'Compactus' but develops into a tight, true dwarf form without pruning.  Dark green summer foliage turns to a spectacular bright red in fall.  Slow growth rate (3-4" per year). Deciduous.

Description: Bright yellow centers are edged with dark green.  Yellow center often softens as the summer progresses.  Good for slopes. Evergreen.

Description:  Unlike other Euonymous shrub cultivars, this type practically lies flat and forms a thick mat on the ground.  The leaves are deep purple/green with good red-purple fall and winter color. Self clinging.  Evergreen.

Foliage Color: Green/purple; Purple/red fall color

Description:  Distinguished by the irregular white margin on the deep green, one inch rounded leaf.  Margin becomes pink tinged in winter.  'Emerald Gaiety' forms a compact shrub but some stems may climb up nearby shrubs or walls.  A good plant for slopes. Evergreen.

Description:  Produced from our friends at Roemer Nursery (Ohio), 'Gold Splash' is a sport of 'Emerald n' Gold' with big round leaves displaying a thick deep golden-yellow edge. Very showy and consistent leaf coloration. Yellow fruit and orange seeds are very showy and persistent. Excellent hardiness and disease resistance, too.

Description:  This evergreen is ideal for a ground cover or mass planting.  It offers striking contrast with dark, shiny green leaves that have yellow mottling in the centers. Evergreen.

Description: Another introduction from Roemer Nursery (Ohio), 'Sunny Lane' has large leaves that emerge gold and green then soften to pleasing chartreuse and green.  Yellow fruits open in mid summer to reveal orange seeds.  Very hardy.  Evergreen.
