Fothergilla

Fothergilla

Description:
Fothergilla can grow in a variety of soils but prefers a well-drained, acidic, clay soil.  It's moderate size makes it an excellent candidate for residential landscapes and shrub borders.  Fothergilla will be of year-round interest to the gardener with its lush white spring flowers, blue/green summer foliage and attractive red, orange or yellow fall color.
Common Name: Dwarf Fothergilla
Botanical Name: Fothergilla
Type: Deciduous shrub
Growth Rate: Slow
Soil Preference: Tolerates drought and occasional wetness but prefers to grow in well-drained/loamy, sandy or clay soils with a pH preference acidic to slightly alkaline
Light Requirements: Partial sun, partial shade
Attributes: Pest tolerant
Pests: None serious
Diseases: None serious
Care: Fertilize with Holly-tone as recommended.  It is best to allow Fothergilla to grow to its natural form so only lightly prune if necessary.
