Description:
The White Ash appreciates good soil and will not tolerate standing water in heavy clay soils.  There is no messy fruit production on the variety listed below but the pollen may cause allergy symptoms.

 

Common Name: Ash, White Ash
Botanical Name: Fraxinus
Type: Deciduous tree
Growth Rate: Fast
Soil Preference: Tolerates some drought and occassional wetness and will grow in dry to occasionally wet soils but prefers well-drained/loamy, sandy or clay soil with a pH of acidic to alkaline (less than 7.0 - 7.7+)
Light Requirements: Full sun, partial sun, partial shade
Attributes: Nice fall color
Pests: Borers, aphids, fall webworm, mites, lacebug, Asian long-horned beetle
Diseases: Rust, Anthracnose, leaf scorch, leaf spot, canker, powdery mildew, ash ring spot, Verticillium wilt
Care: Fertilize with Holly-tone as recommended.

Description:  In summer, the leaves are dark green above and paler green beneath.  The purple fall color lasts for a long time.  This variety is seedless.
