Description:

A plant with many different forms, shapes and foliage colors.   It can be used as a specimen, screen or hedge. 

 

Common Name: Arborvitae, Giant Arborvitae, Giant Cedar, Giant Red Cedar, Eastern Arborvitae, American Arborvitae, Siberian Arborvitae, Northern White Cedar, White Cedar
Botanical Name: Thuja
Type: Evergreen shrub or tree
Form: See individual plant descriptions
Soil Preference: Will tolerate drought or flooding, ozone and a little salt.  Will grow best in well-drained soil with a pH of acidic to alkaline
Growth Rate: Slow
Light Requirements: Full sun, partial sun, partial shade
Attributes: Attracts birds
Pests: Scale, spider mites, bagworms, carpenter ants, deer
Diseases: Leaf blight, canker
Care: Fertilize with Holly-tone as recommended.

Description:  A Danish selection that is dwarf and globe-shaped.  Foliage is bright glossy emerald green turning bluish-green in winter.    'Danica' is considered one of the best dwarf globe forms.

Description:  Perhaps worth owning just for its unique name!   This new dwarf form will form a perfect ball no larger than 3' tall and wide.   The foliage is dense and medium green, needing no pruning to remain neat and tidy.   Also known as 'Bobozam' or Linesville (Lyonsville)

Description:  A superior selection with dark, glossy green foliage and excellent winter color and a tight, pyramidal habit.  Spring Grove is great for use as a hedge or screen.  Grows 24" per year or more! This fast growing, cold hardy selection of Western Arborvitae also shows excellent resistance to deer browsing.
