Description:

A great vine to quickly cover a trellis, fence, building or screen.  Dutchman's Pipe should be trained to encourage upright growth.

 

Common Name: Dutchman's Pipe
Botanical Name: Artistolochia
Type: Deciduous Perennial Vine
Soil Preference: This plant will tolerate some drought and will grow in moist soil but prefers well-drained or loamy soils with a neutral pH (7.0)
Light Requirements: Full sun, partial sun, partial shade
Attributes: Attracts birds and butterflies
Pests: Red spider mites, Aphids
Diseases: None serious
Care: Propagation is from cuttings, division and seeds in fall, spring and summer.  Cut back in fall and mulch well. Fertilize with Plant-tone or a water-soluble fertilizer.
