Description:

A fast growing, strong vine that can reach 30' or more!!  It is best to be trained on to a very sturdy structure because the plant can become extremely heavy.   It's main feature are the drooping clusters of violet, blue, pink or white flowers in spring.   Greenish/brown fruits shaped like pea pods appear after the blooms and are quite attractive

Common Name: Japanese Wisteria, Chinese Wisteria

Attributes: Good for naturalizing.  Wisteria sinensis attracts butterflies and serves as a butterfly nectar source and a host for butterfly larvae.
Pests: Black vine weevil
Diseases: Crown gall, leaf spots, powdery mildew
