Description:

The flower stalks of the Leopard Flower rise above the foliage 12-18 inches.  Black berries will form if the flowers are not dead-headed and are very nice for winter interest.
 
Common Name: Leopard Flower, Blackberry Lily
Botanical Name: Belamcanda
Type: Perennial
Soil Preference: Tolerates drought and some salt and will grow in dry to moist soil but prefers well-drained, loamy, sandy or clay soils with a pH of acidic to slightly alkaline (less than 6.8-7.7)
Light Requirements: Full sun, partial sun, partial shade
Attributes: Attracts butterflies and serves as a butterfly nectar source.   Suitable for cut and dried flowers.  Good for naturalizing or in the border.
Pests: Iris borer
Diseases: Leaf spot, Anthracnose
Good Companion Plants: Bee Balm, Black-Eyed Susan, Blanket Flower, Miscanthus, Silver Mound, Speedwell, St. John's Wort, Willowleaf Sunflower
Care: Cut back to 6 inches in the fall and remove dead foliage in the spring.  Mulch well for winter. Fertilize with Plant-tone or a water-soluble fertilizer.  Divide if necessary in spring or fall.

Description:  The star-like one inch flowers on this species are orange and heavily spotted with crimson.  The bizarre seed pods display a large cluster of black seeds, resembling blackberries.
