Description:
Cimicifuga is a wonderfully lacy, airy backdrop in the garden. It is
native to the edges of woodlands in eastern North America, performing best
in partial shade and moist, organically enriched soil. Water supply
should be constant throughout spring to fall.

| Description:
Masses of striking, dark purplish-black foliage contrasted by long, white
bottlebrush blooms fascinates the eye and peaks everyone's curiosity. Though
the young foliage tends to be green, it quickly deepens to an almost
iridescent purple-black. In late summer, the 4'-7' tall stems are topped
with foot-long, fragrant, white flowers blushed with pale pink.
Discovered by Mary Ann McGourty of Hillside Gardens, Connecticut and
introduced through Plant Haven. |
