Description:

Native to rocky, mountainous regions, they will do best where soils are well-drained and nights are cool.  This perennial will bloom for many weeks, beginning in late spring, if regularly deadheaded.
Common Name: Hardy Gloxinia
Botanical Name: Incarvillea
Type: Perennial
Soil Preference: Prefers well-drained soils.  Sandy soils are ideal.
Light Requirements: Full Sun to Partial Shade

Companion Plants: Campanula, Tall Bearded Iris, Lady's Mantle, Pincushion Flower, Yarrow
Care & Tips: This perennial will bloom for many weeks, beginning in late spring, if regularly deadheaded. Mulch heavily in the fall, followed by immediate removal of this mulch in early spring. These plants develop a long taproot, making them difficult to divide, but this task may be be performed in spring immediately after flowering if necessary.

You won't believe these exotic-looking plants are hardy to zone 5! The blossoms stand 1-2 inches above the long, deeply divided, medium-green leaves. It will bloom for many weeks if regularly deadheaded.
