Description:
An ornamental, ericaceous shrub or small tree best grown in acidic, well-drained soil.  It's shallow root system will benefit from mulching.  The fall color is quite striking and would make a nice, flowering, substitute for Burning Bush in the landscape.

Botanical Name: Enkianthus
Type: Deciduous Shrub
Growth Rate: Average
Soil Preference: Will tolerate drought and dry soil.  Suitable soil is well-drained, loamy, sandy or clay with a pH of acidic to slightly alkaline (less than 6.8 to 7.7)
Light Requirements: Full Sun to Partial Shade
Attributes: Pest tolerant; nice fall color
Pests: None serious
Diseases: None serious
Care:

Part of the ericaceous family, following planting and care instructions for Rhododendrons & Azaleas.  If foliage turns yellow during spring or summer, apply Ironite.  Fertilize with Holly-tone as recommended.  Can be trimmed after blooming.

Description:  Narrow, upright shrub or small tree with layered branches and tufted foliage.  Pink bell-shaped flowers in May.  Foliage turns to attractive shades of red, orange and yellow in fall.
