Description:

The gladiolus-like foliage fans around the branched funnel-shaped flower spikes which zig zag to a height of up to 36".  Each stem carries a profuse number of star-shaped flowers opening over a long period.

 

Common Name: Crocosmia, Montbretia
Botanical Name: Crocosmia
Type: Perennial
Soil Preference: Will grow in moist soils but will do best in well-drained, loamy or sandy soils with a pH of neutral to slightly alkaline.
Light Requirements: Full sun
Attributes: Suitable for cut flowers
Pests: Thrips, spider mites
Diseases: None serious
Good Companion Plants: Bee Balm, Cardinal Flower, Coreopsis, Daylily, Lamb's Ear, Garden Phlox
Care: Divide (bulb) in spring or fall if necessary.  Fertilize with Plant-tone or a water soluble fertilizer.
