Osmocote Flower & Vegetable
- Formulated for plants in-the-ground. It’s 14-14-14 NPK analysis balances vigorous top growth with strong root development. This makes it appropriate for both annuals and perennials, season after season. Twice-a-year feeding is recommended for perennials. The balanced analysis also makes Osmocote® Vegetable & Bedding a great choice for garden vegetables, tomatoes, melons and berries.
- Add to soil or mulch in borders and beds, apply regularly to young trees and shrubs, ideal with tomatoes, garden vegetables, melons and berries.
- This is one of our favorite fertilizers as it is well-balanced, slow-release and easy to use. Plus, its fertilizer is actually coated which increases its slow-release capabilities.
Osmocote Indoor & Outdoor
- Osmocote® Outdoor & Indoor formula is a general-purpose plant food. It’s one of the few granular fertilizers that’s suitable for plants in enclosed spaces (pots, hanging baskets, window boxes and the like). It does not matter if the containers are indoors, on a screened porch, or outdoors on the patio. Outdoor & Indoor can also be used with bulbs and roses. Osmocote® provides a four month controlled supply of major nutrients for colorful blooms and lush foliage.
- Osmocote® Outdoor & Indoor Plant Food Has Unmatched Versatility: apply with confidence to potted plants, indoors or outdoors, include with annuals when planting or transplanting, can use with indoor plants year-round.
- This formula releases dependent upon soil temperature. The 4-month formula releases best at 70 degree soil temperatures.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What fertilizer do I use when seeding my lawn?
See Lawn Fertilizers
How much Holly-tone or Plant-tone should I use?
Please see the Espoma website for application instructions. Remember to use only half of the recommended rate for new plantings.
How often should I apply fertilizers?
This is a tough question to answer as some fertilizers need to be applied every week, every few months, or just once during the growing season. As a rule of thumb, plants can be fertilized starting about April 1st then as directed on the product package. We do not suggest fertilizing trees, shrubs, roses, vines or perennials during the months of August and September as the plant will not have time to harden off for the winter. See our Water & Fertilizer Schedule for more information.
Are fertilizers safe for use around pets and children?
Most fertilizers, especially organic fertilizers are safe for use around pets and children. However, some pets can acquire skin allergies because of these products. If you notice your pets scratching or biting their skin after being outside after applying fertilizer, you may want to keep the pets off of those areas until the fertilizer gets into the soil, about 1-2 days.
How do I know which fertilizer to use on which plant?
This can be tricky but most fertilizers these days will list what types of plants are best. Most general fertilizers such as Plant-tone, Miracle-Gro or Peters will work on almost any plant. However, acid-loving plants would prefer a fertilizer that will decrease the pH of the soil and increase the amount of acid. Holly-tone is perfect for plants such as Azaleas, Rhododendron, Dogwoods, Holly, Mountain Laurel, Blueberries and Pieris.
